Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where are you based?

I’m based in Barry, located in the beautiful South of Wales. However, I regularly travel throughout the UK and worldwide to document weddings and events. If your celebration or photoshoot is further afield, let’s chat—I’m always excited to explore new destinations.

2. Do you only shoot weddings?

Not at all. While weddings are a significant part of my work, I also specialize in portraits, sports, boudoir, commercial, and educational photography. My documentary style remains consistent across all genres, focusing on authentic moments and genuine emotion.

3. How would you describe your photography style?

My approach is often described as candid or documentary. That means I focus on capturing real, unscripted interactions rather than posed setups. I might gently guide you when necessary—especially for group shots or specific requests—but most of the day or session is about letting the moments unfold naturally.

4. Do you still take group or formal photos?

Absolutely. While my main focus is documentary coverage, I understand the importance of traditional group photos and key portraits. We’ll work together to schedule these efficiently so you can spend more time enjoying your day (and less time standing in line for photos).

5. How far in advance should we book you?

Availability varies throughout the year, so the sooner you get in touch, the better. For weddings, many couples book 12 to 18 months in advance. However, if you have a last-minute date or a short timeline, feel free to reach out—I might still be able to accommodate you.

6. Do you work alone or with a second photographer?

For most assignments, I’m the primary photographer. However, I can arrange for a second shooter if your event is especially large or you’d prefer multiple angles and perspectives. This is something we can discuss during our consultation.

7. How many images do we receive and how are they delivered?

The number of photos depends on the length of coverage and the nature of the event. For a full wedding day, you can generally expect 600–800 high-resolution images. All images are edited for consistency and delivered via a secure online gallery, which you can share with friends and family. Prints and albums are also available upon request.

8. How long does it take to get our photos and/or videos?

My typical turnaround time for a full gallery is between 3 to 5 days. Videos take a little longer and usually are delivered within 10 days after the shoot. Portrait sessions or smaller events may be delivered sooner. If you need a few highlights earlier, just let me know—I’m happy to provide some sneak peeks.

9. Will we have rights to print our images?

Yes. I provide personal printing rights, so you can print and share your images as much as you’d like. If you’re looking for professional-quality prints or albums, I also offer those services at an additional cost.

10. Do you edit every photo you deliver?

Yes, I edit and color-correct each final image to ensure consistency and quality. My editing style leans toward natural and timeless tones, combining a subtle vintage warmth with modern clarity. As I am very technical as well, with 42 years of IT knowledge and post production, I can edit photos and videos much faster than the majority of photographers and videographers.

11. Are you insured and do you have backup equipment?

Absolutely. I carry full professional indemnity and public liability insurance. I also arrive with backup cameras, lenses, memory cards, and batteries to ensure that, regardless of any unforeseen circumstances, your moments are captured.

12. Do you travel outside of Barry or Wales for shoots?

Yes! Whether your event is in another part of the UK or anywhere around the world, I’m available for travel. I love the adventure of capturing stories in new places. Travel fees will apply depending on the destination and logistics, but we can discuss all details during our consultation.

13. How do I book you?

Simply get in touch through the contact page on my website, and we’ll arrange a time to discuss your plans. To secure the date, I require a signed contract and a booking fee of £200. Once that’s done, we’re all set for a fantastic experience! The booking fee is used to secure your shoot and it is deducted from your overall payment.

To plan appropriately, I respectfully request for a 25% deposit upfront before the work starts, and then the balance can be paid within 28 calendar days after the work is complete.

For last minute situations, a 50% deposit is required and the balance after the work is complete.

All work is carried out after initial contract has been signed and approved!

14. Can we meet before we book?

Of course! I encourage a pre-booking consultation either in person (if you’re local) or you can Video Call Me Here. This helps us get to know each other, discuss your vision, and see if we’re a great fit.
