MINI COURSE TOPIC 12: Serious Smartphone Videography

Smartphone technology moves at lightning speed, and one of the main areas of improvement is the camera.
Gone are the days of pixelated, blocky photos from a phone camera. Now we’re close to editorial quality images.

As technology improves, smartphones are becoming a tool for serious photography, however they lack in zooming technology for photography. Many artists are now using smartphones as their primary camera, however it is mostly for video.
They don’t need to fork out for the latest mirrorless model. They have everything they need in their pocket to film a great video.

As smartphone cameras get better and more camera apps, some even powered by AI (artificial intelligence) hit the market, you’ll see more smartphone videographers. Today smartphones on gimbals and as second screens to cameras are invaluable. And it’s not just snaps of family and friends. You’ll see everything from portraits to minimalist architecture photography, however videography is by far a much higher quality proposition.

Mobile/Smart phones today have incredible lenses for videography. Yes they can take photos, however their video capabilities are far superior and a smartphone is a great tool to have in your arsenal of tools as a photographer and mostly a videographer.
