Vertical Is the NEW Way And Trend

It’s hard to imagine that the orientation of images can be a trend. We say that, but expect a photography trend of more vertical photos. Horizontal images had their place for landscapes, and vertical for portraits. Here, you capture the flow of the scene or subject.

It’s definitely due to smartphones. Each image you capture is automatically vertical unless you turn it sideways. This is a big jump from DSLRs, SLRs, and mirrorless systems that are initially in the horizontal position.

TIP 1: Try capturing your images from a DSLR or mirrorless camera in a vertical orientation. Find scenes that fit it, not vice-versa.

TIP 2: Don’t be scared to take vertical orientation shots and to crop parts of the subject matter.

TIP 3: Vertical orientation lends to modern social media posts and a visual trend.
