How it works

1. Choose a place — Current location (GPS) or any saved spot from the location menu (top-left on main screens). The same place drives Dashboard, Sun & Moon, and Weather.

2. Read conditions — Open tabs to see the shoot score and summary, detailed sun/moon data, or full weather.

3. Refresh — Pull down on scrollable areas to reload sun, moon, and weather for the selected place.

4. Save spots — Use the map button to search or drop a pin; add name, visit date, optional camera/library photo, and notes (up to 256 characters).

5. Browse saved places — Use the list button; tap to jump, swipe to delete, long-press for a rich preview.

6. Help & company — Gear (top-right): company info, website, email, App Store rating. Info (ⓘ): full in-app feature guide (content reproduced below).

   Weather forecasts are powered by the Open-Meteo API (open-meteo.com), under CC BY 4.0. Attribution appears in the app’s info guide.
   Thank you to Open-Meteo for your help in giving me the insights to connect to your API.

Feature highlights

Dashboard

Large title for the place being scouted; coordinates; Shoot Score ring; card with rating, sky condition, golden hour, sunrise/sunset, cloud/rain, wind & temperature (metric + imperial), moon phase & illumination; contextual tips.

Shoot Score

Quick indication of how favourable conditions look for photography, from loaded weather and sun data.

Sun & Moon

Sunrise, sunset, golden and blue hour windows; moon phase, illumination, moonrise/moonset.
For some fun, in the footer of each, we indicate (Earth to the Moon and Earth to the Sun distances).

Weather

Animated background (clear / cloudy / rainy); current + today’s summary + next six days; dual temperature & wind units; pull to refresh; pollen when the data source provides it.

Locations

One shared selection across tabs; map save flow with search, pin, photo, notes; list + preview + delete.

Design

Tab bar: Dashboard · Sun & Moon · Weather; dark mode; no account required for core use.

In version 1.2 we hope to be adding a brand new section for night photography shooters :-). We are negotiating with satellite companies to implement data for the stars and Milky Way. So when a photographer wishes to shoot for the Mikly Way, we can go to that section and the app will (LIVE) superimpose the Milky Way and stars, over the current view, using the awesome technology in the iPhone, the accelerometer. Currently we are in discussions with Apple on how to best harness the accelerometer APIs.
